Yes Virginia it has been a very long time since my last post... It's not that I haven't been busy. I have done some life course corrections, and there hasn't been enough time to write anything down.
We all know how miserable I was at my last full time paid gig. I tried to motivate myself at every turn to "like" the job. "Stick with" the job. And even fooled myself about why I did the first 2 mentioned. All of it not good- for me or the job.
So January 1 I resolved to course correct. I started by taking a creative digital media class at the local community college. It was a great class, with a great teacher. The image above was made in this class. the female images were shot by a fellow by the name of Marcus Ranum who is a great photographer. In his day job he designs systems for software security for some of this countries fortune 500 firms. Impressive.
I managed to plod through 1 more AT&T Pro Am, and I knew it would be my last. I was sorry to say good bye to a few people, but not sorry to leave.
Word came the middle of March on a store space that was coming available at a great price. And I gave my 2 week notice and said good bye to the day job I had for 4 1/2 years- the longest I ever stayed anywhere. Sucka!!!
On May 21st we opened the doors at Medusa's Emporium. Why Medusa? A strong sassy lady with lots of visual appeal for the logo. Emporium? Well we weren't sure exactly what merchandise we would sell. Yes, it would be our working studio and we would sell and exhibit art. But I also wanted to have local hand crafted artsy items for sale as well. So Emporium suggested shop, with an old world flair. After all I do live in the wild wild west. I tried to incorporate this feeling into the logo.
Oh and did I mention I have a partner in the business this go around? Yes this should lead to some crazy tales from Medusa's Emporium.
I am working on a new header and sprucing up the site... so stay tuned for more fun. And I'm sure a little more course correcting. Up, Down, Right, Left
peace out
sheree
