TGIF!
Although when you work retail, or own your place of business, Fridays are not always a Friday.
This week I have been busy in the Emporium pulling out all of the Holiday Girls I have done over the last few years. There are several, but many of them will have to go into Photoshop to fine tune them.
I started working on the Fashion Paper dolls in 2008. I was working a 9-5 job and was looking for a way to keep my hands busy with my drawing and painting.
I tried several challenge blogs at the time, but only 1 kept my attention. It was named A Fashionable Challenge on Flickr.com. The way that it worked was that the moderator would post a word or a prompt phrase and the participants complete an image that is suggestive of the phrase. I have 165 images from this challenge and they can be viewed on my Flickr pages. http://www.flickr.com/photos/slgreek/
Here is the process I use to complete the images-
I complete the fashion drawing in pencil on a heavy drawing paper. Robert Bateman sketchbooks are my favorite. The paper in these books will hold up extremely well to my watercolor washes. I also add pen outlines or color pencil to complete the look so that the illo holds true to the original photo.
By the way, all of my illustrations are inspired by fashion designers or big fashion labels. I may add my own personality to the look, but most of them are not my designs.
The next step is scanning the finished drawing into the computer. I add a background and type if I feel the images need that extra wow.
I know- I can read your mind. " How does she find anything but that coffee cup on that messy desk? True, very true... Tis the season folks, and I expect it to get worse before it gets better. " A place for everything and everything in it's own place".
So after the file is complete the images appear similar to this Happy Holidays 2010 . The master files are done at a pretty high resolution. I can make greeting cards, tee shirts, coffee mugs and a whole array of gift items with these images.
After Halloween I will post this years Christmas/ Holiday card. I also think the season will bring out several Holiday Dressing Paper Dolls fashion girls from storage. It's all good!
Time to get this show on the road-
Later
sheree
PS I apologize for the last post. There were weird spaces and codes showing... Not sure why and I am hoping this one is better. I am posting through Blogger and I think some wires crossed when it went into the Facebook world. It's all new to me.
